Let our selection be your guide :
You can start your visit to the region with the Vieux-Nice, the old part of town that has kept the medieval aspect of an Italian fortified city. It is bustling with shops offering various Mediterranean specialities. Restaurants, pubs and terraces occupy its narrow streets. At night, it is the lively district of the city, the place to see and be seen by the inhabitants of Nice.
During your stopover, take the opportunity to taste the socca, a traditional culinary speciality of Nice's cuisine. The socca is a thin pancake made from chickpea flour and olive oil which is eaten hot as an aperitif or as a side dish. It owes its origins to the Italian farinata.
Then, take a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais, a must-see place in Nice, and without doubt one of the most beautiful walkways and seafronts in France. It is a 7-mile avenue that runs along the Côte d'Azur facing the beautifully named “Baie des Anges”. The Promenade des Anglais owes its name to Reverend Lewis Way, who decided to build a causeway by the sea for the English who came to Nice during wintertime. Called "Strada del littorale" it was soon renamed "Camin dei Inglès" (Promenade des Anglais) by the people of Nice.
If you're looking for some tranquillity, take a trip to the surrounding sleepy old towns in the hinterland of Nice. Perched on their rocky spurs, they overlook the Mediterranean and offer a superb view of the Southern Alps and the Mercantour National Park.
